On August 17th, Indonesia celebrates its Independence Day, marking its liberation from the Netherlands in 1945. This year, Studio Woork was chosen to design the identity for Indonesia's 77th Independence Day. We collaborated with non-designers to develop a dynamic 77 logo that represents seven core principles and prayers for the nation. This project embodies a collaborative spirit and incorporates diverse perspectives.

The project acknowledges the challenging socio-economic landscape in Indonesia over the past two years and centers around the theme of "Recover Faster, Rise Stronger." It adopts a collaborative approach, incorporating input from a wide range of collaborators, including graphic designers, office workers, pedicab drivers, and herbal medicine workers. This inclusive approach aims to capture a comprehensive national perspective and ensure democratic representation of the nation.

The process of designing the logo was carried out collectively, with every member of Studio Woork, including both designers and non-designers, contributing by sketching preliminary logo ideas for the 77th logo. They also explored various ways to present the logo, all while keeping in mind the overarching theme of 'Recover Faster, Rise Stronger'. The result was a myriad collection of perspectives, each showcasing how individuals envisioned the 77th logo.

The visual identity features a vibrant red and white color palette, prominently showcasing the sweeping 77 logo. The logo symbolizes the upward movement of progress and improvement in Indonesia, with the slanted lines inspired by the Garuda Pancasila, the national emblem. The curved lines at the base of the logo represent the synergy and hope necessary for fostering optimism. Overall, this national identity project for Indonesia's Independence Day reflects a collaborative spirit, incorporates diverse perspectives, and symbolizes the country's resilience and progress.
